In Memory of David H.Edwards

Sadly we have to announce that David passed away while playing squash at the United Services Club in Hong Kong on 11th October 2008.

We have lost a true friend, a mentor and an extraordinary intellect. Not many aspire to membership of Mensa; the organization that admits only those whose IQ is within the top 2% of the world’s population. David was a member.

With Degrees in such disparate disciplines as Engineering, Business Management, Criminal Justice and Accountancy, David put his intellect to full use.

After 9 years in the HK Police force up to 1983 David turned to a business career through his interests in IBC and IBC Strategic in particular. He visited more than 90 countries and every province in China and was fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. He lived life to the full finding plenty of time for leisure and sport.

Two years ago David was awarded the China Peace Award for his contribution to world peace. This high accolade speaks volumes for the trust and respect accorded to a man who was clearly no ordinary western businessman plying his trade in China and the World. If life is likened to a symphony David’s came to an end suddenly and tragically before the final movement. Throughout his life, however, David’s music played with gusto, integrity and a joie de vivre that will be remembered and cherished by all those fortunate to have known him. None of us could hope for a greater legacy.

His unique skills will be sorely missed in the business but we are all resolved to carry on in the manner that he directed. To strive to meet our customers needs with honesty and integrity to our mutual benefit. That would have been his expectation…..

With thanks to the United Services Recreation Club for the inspiration of their words.
